Anne White
Culinary Director of Pastry for the Indigo Road
Born and raised in the rolling hills and valleys of Southwest Virginia, White has had a passion for baking for as long as she can remember. While she began her career in occupational therapy, White ultimately followed her dream and landed a job as a pastry assistant at Primland Resort, an Auberge Resorts Collection property in the Blue Ridge Mountains; where she learned the basics of recipe development, menu planning, and kitchen etiquette.
Going on to pursue formal training in baking and pastry arts at the Culinary Institute of Charleston, White had the opportunity to work all over the world, from Balmoral Castle in Scotland to Wild Dunes Resort in Isle of Palms, SC. In 2018, White joined the team at The Indigo Road Hospitality Group, leading the pastry program at Mercantile & Mash in Charleston, SC. Incorporating fresh, local ingredients to create desserts that are multidimensional in flavor–not just typical “sweets” found on many dessert menus, White now oversees all the pastry programs and production for The Indigo Road Hospitality Group’s restaurants and lodging properties. Under White’s leadership, the pastry team for The Indigo Road Hospitality Group has grown from two pastry chefs to a team of seven.
Her favorite desserts to create (and taste!) are pies and ice cream. When not working, White enjoys reading, gardening, traveling, and spending time with her dog, Sully.
